Spanish Morse Code Translator: Ñ, Accents and Examples

Spanish uses the same International Morse code patterns as English for A–Z, numbers and common punctuation. The important difference on this page is the letter Ñ. This translator encodes Ñ as --.-- and keeps it distinct from N (-.).

Accented vowels need a clear rule because many modern keyboards and messages contain Á, É, Í, Ó or Ú. Instead of silently dropping those letters, this tool converts them to their unaccented forms before translation. Ü is handled as U. International Standard and Spanish Extensions

ITU-R Recommendation M.1677 defines the core International Morse code characters and operating signals. National and historical extensions are not all part of that core table. For that reason, this page states exactly what the browser tool does: it supports Ñ as --.--, normalizes accented vowels, and sends modern CH as two letters. It does not claim that every accented spelling has a separate ITU signal.

Punctuation and copy checks

Translate punctuation only when it appears in the tool’s supported map. After copying a sentence, count the letter groups around Ñ and accented vowels, verify the wider word boundaries, and decode the result once as a cross-check. A normalized word may decode without its written accent because Morse carries the selected signal pattern, not the typography of the original keyboard input.
