The brain processes auditory rhythms much faster than visual symbols, which is why all serious Morse code training emphasizes listening over looking at dots and dashes.

Farnsworth Speed & Timing

Adjusting the speed in WPM (Words Per Minute) changes the duration of dots and dashes. Professional radio operators usually prefer 18-22 WPM. The Farnsworth method allows you to play characters at this high speed but increases the spacing between them, giving your brain time to process the sound without forming bad habits.

Audio Pitch (Frequency)

The standard Morse tone is 700Hz. This specific frequency is optimized for biological human hearing and provides the best clarity through background static in ham radio transmissions. However, some operators prefer 500Hz to 600Hz to reduce ear fatigue during long sessions.

Why Use a Sine Wave Oscillator?

What frequency should I use for Morse code?
While 700Hz is the international standard, many users prefer a lower pitch (500Hz-600Hz) for long practice sessions to reduce ear fatigue. Higher pitches (above 800Hz) are better for cutting through noise in weak signal conditions.
